Reasons why the Ball of Your Foot is Hurting

Reasons why the Ball of Your Foot is Hurting

The ball of your foot contains over 50 structures that can be a source of irritation. Because of this complication, many injuries are frequently misdiagnosed or treated ineffectively. This can be treated with physiotherapy and we can help you to get rid of your pain in our physiotherapy clinic in Pune.

So, let’s take a look at what can go wrong with the ball of your foot.

  • Morton's Neuroma -

A neuroma is a painful burning or tingling sensation caused by irritation of the nerve between the toes. It is most common between the third and fourth digits and can be caused by inappropriate footwear.

  • Joint Capsulitis -

Joint capsulitis is an inflammation of your joint capsule that manifests similarly to a plantar plate tear, but the pain is more difficult to pinpoint. It usually heals faster than the plantar plate, and early treatment is critical.

  • Plantar Plate Tear -

The plantar plate is a soft tissue structure that connects the foot and toe joints. A small tear can occur when too much pressure is applied to it, either acutely or repeatedly. This can cause a sharp localized pain beneath the toe joint.

  • Sesamoiditis/Sesamoid Fracture -

There are two bones beneath the big toe that help the big toe function as we walk and run. Increased activity, changes in our mechanics, and/or acute trauma irritate these bones and their associated joint capsules.

  • Stress Fractures -

Stress fractures are caused by repeated loads on a bone rather than by acute trauma. They require careful treatment and load management to heal, and they frequently appear following an increase in training loads without adequate recovery. Early diagnosis is critical once again because some bones in the foot are more prone to delayed healing due to poor blood supply.
